If you are a new 215 Patient it can get a little confusing deciding what kind of medication is right for you! So heres a few facts to help you pick the right strain for your condition.
There are two types of Cannabis: Sativa and Indica. A "Hybrid" is a mix of the two, most varieties now days are hybrids in some capacity because both varieties carry distinct medicinal benefits and effects on the body. So whats the difference?
Indica strains tend to have more sedating and relaxing full body effects, these strains are great to help insomnia, anxiety, and muscle spasms. It's important to know because of its sedative properties, these kinds of strains are mostly recommended for the evening hours before bed to help get you through the night pain free.
Sativa strains generally have an uplifting, energized and creative effect. Sativa's cerebrally-focused effect in some cases can give patients feelings of anxiety, this is not always the case but if you suffer from anxiety we recommend an indica or an indica heavy hybrid. On the other hand Sativa's have shown to be very effective in treating depression, ADD, fatigue, and mood disorders.
In general, Sativa's are recommended for the morning and afternoon, and indica's are best saved for the evening hours. Hybrids can fill in the gaps to find the perfect fit for you.
THC and CBD
are the two most well known properties of Cannabis. While we can generalize on the physical effects knowing if it is Indica or Sativa dominant; knowing the THC and CBD potency can improve your aim to the desired effects. To put it simply, the THC in Cannabis is what makes you feel "high" or "stoned", if you are not looking to be in a mind altering state the lower the THC level the better. Anything above 20% is considered high THC. CBD on the other hand is what helps with pain relief, anything over 4% is considered high in potemcy. If you are more interested in getting the pain relief benefits but prefer not to get high search for a high CBD and low THC.
